Manderino Library will be closed until the start of the FALL Semester. Any changes to operations will be updated on this page and on the Library Hours page.
All events scheduled in Manderino Library until the start of the Fall Semester have been canceled.
Due to the closure of the Library, some services have had to be suspended.
Physical books from Manderino Library are NOT available.
Physical books from other libraries canNOT be requested through either E-ZBorrow or Interlibrary Loan.
The hours that you can Chat with a librarian vary during the summer. Here's how to know if a librarian is available to Chat with you: Look at the Contact the Library box on the library home page (and other pages). If you see a blue "Chat Now" button, a librarian is available to help you. If you see a grey "Chat is offline" button, Chat is not available.
When Chat is not available, you can submit an email question any time of the day using our Ask the Library system. A librarian will respond as soon as possible.
Research Librarians with expertise in specific subjects are available for consultations via phone, email, or online Zoom meeting. Use this link to easily set up a session! If you find that you cannot meet during the times listed by the librarian, don't hesitate to email the librarian. We will do our best to be flexible and find a time that works for your schedule.
There is a Subject Guide that covers each of the departments and programs at Cal U. By selecting the appropriate guide, you will be directed to the best resources in that discipline. The guide will also identify which librarian is the specialist in that area and allow you to easily contact them.
You may request PDF materials that you can keep (unlike a book that you have to return) using our Request Forms. You can request ARTICLES and CHAPTERS from reserve books. You cannot request physical books themselves, since the library is not open.
FACULTY: This resource lists a number of free, online resources available to you that might assist you in converting your face-to-face classes to online, or simply enhance your existing online classes.
Although the library building is closed, librarians are still available to help you remotely. Contact us to help you with your assignments, research, or questions about library services.
With the start of summer sessions, librarian availability is reduced and is focused on the 10-week summer sessions. During those 10 weeks, librarians will be available during varied hours that were selected based on past history of when people were using our web site. We hope this will ensure that librarians are available when students are online using library resources and needing help.
Here are the Summer Hours of coverage:
May 9 - June 6: Use our email-based Ask the Library system to submit questions. A librarian will respond ASAP.
June 7 - August 13: During these 10 weeks, Ask the Library service will continue. In addition, librarians will offer Chat and the ability to schedule (virtual) Research Appointments during the following hours:
Aug 14 - 23: Use our email-based Ask the Library system to submit questions. A librarian will respond ASAP.
The DUE DATE for all library books now has been extended until July 1, 2020. If you have any questions about items you have borrowed, please email Mary Paula Birkinsha
Library books can be returned when Manderino Library re-opens. Remember the extended due date listed above! If you have access to campus, you can put books in the Book Drop Box located to the left of the main entrance to the Library (outside the library). If you cannot get to campus by the due date (and the library has re-opened), contact Mary Paula Birkinsha to make arrangements. Note that ALL current fines and fees will be waived! Please do NOT use the drop box to return equipment, such as cameras, projectors, etc.
